You also might exist interested in creating a standalone install bulldoze for Mountain King of beasts. As with Os 10 Lion, Apple volition likely release USB drives containing a bootable Mountain King of beasts installer, but this will cost you more than the App Store download. Additionally, while Apple's OS should exist bachelor using Apple tree's various Internet recovery options, this can often accept a long time to download, especially if you exercise not take the fastest broadband connections available to you.
We previously outlined how to create your ain Bone X install drive when Bone 10 Lion was released, and the process for Mountain King of beasts is for the most part the same. However, when following the procedure for King of beasts you might see a snag that will prevent the drive from being created. Therefore, to create a standalone USB or optical media install drive for OS 10 x.8 Mountain Lion, do this:
Purchase and download Lion from the Mac App Store (or utilise your up-to-date redemption code), and when the download is finished, the Mountain King of beasts installer will load. Quit the installer (press Command-Q) and go to the Application binder on your organisation.Locate and right-click the Mountain King of beasts installer to show its contents (click for larger view). In this case, you can go to the Purchases section of the App Store and redownload the installer.
Right-click the "Install Mac Bone Ten Mountain Lion" application in the Applications folder, and choose "Show parcel contents."
In the new window that opens, go to the Contents > SharedSupport folder and locate the file called "InstallESD.dmg."
Open Disk Utility (in the Applications > Utilities binder) and elevate the InstallESD.dmg image to the device sidebar, where it should appear nether your various deejay and volumes listings.
In Deejay Utility select the InstallESD.dmg file, and then you tin can click the Fire icon in Disk Utility's toolbar to burn down the image to a DVD (single-layer 4.7GB discs practise not have enough space, and then use dual-layer 8.5GB discs). If you wish to create a USB or FireWire install drive instead, then continue on to step 6.
Connect a spare USB or FireWire bulldoze that has at least 6GB of capacity, which should bear witness upward in Disk Utility. Optionally partitioning it by selecting it and using the Partition tab to dissever it into ii logical volumes (one for the Mountain Panthera leo installer and the other for extra storage space) past clicking the plus push to create a new partition, and and then setting the kickoff partition to be iv.8GB in size.

Select the InstallESD.dmg file in Deejay Utility and click the Restore tab that appears in the main Disk Utility window. When you do this you should see the deejay paradigm appear in the Source field, merely if not and then drag it there.
Drag your destination drive (the desired USB or FireWire bulldoze volume) to the Destination field, and and then click the Restore button. Ostend y'all would like to do this, and when complete you should have a fully bootable Mount Lion installation drive.
This process should piece of work as described simply the restoration process could neglect with an error. You can overcome this past first mounting the InstallESD.dmg file and so using the mounted volume as the Source for the restoration, instead of the disk image file itself.
If restoring the InstallESD.dmg file straight does not work, then first mount it and restore the "Mac Bone X Install ESD" volume that appears (click for larger view). Screenshot by Topher Kessler/CNET
To exercise this, first select the InstallESD.dmg file in the Disk Utility sidebar and click the Open button in the Deejay Utility toolbar. When mounted, you will see a volume name appear called "Mac Os X Install ESD" underneath the image file. In the Restore tab in Deejay Utility, drag this new volume to the Source field, and and so repeat step eight above to restore it to your drive of choice (special thanks to MacFixIt reader Michael A. for this tip).
When Disk Utility creates the bulldoze in this style, all files on it will be erased and replaced with the restored information; even so, if you initially partitioned the drive (come across step 6 higher up), then you tin can still use the drive'southward secondary book for other purposes in addition to being a Mountain Lion install source.
